Description
Summary:El Salvador - "The Savior", a country that bears the name of the Christian symbol of peace on earth, knows only war. It is a country that has been torn apart by civil strife so long that its people have grown accustomed to a life riddled with violence. A life shattered by bombs exploding all around them. A life dotted by corpses all around them. Yet, El Salvador is still a country that believes in peace. As "La Lucha" unfolds, we see that the struggle in El Salvador parallels the classic conflict that has defined modern Latin American history: the military and wealthy land owners against the poverty-stricken campesinos/campesinas (people of the country). "La Lucha" is the story of a people who are called by conditions of injustice and oppression to reclaim their land. For over ten years, the struggle to regain the dignity and freedom in the context of the message of Jesus Christ as it clearly witnesses a "preferential option for the poor." "La Lucha" becomes the story of a people reawakened by faith, atrengthened by suffering, who are called to social justice.
