During the comparatively short reign of Akhenaten, about 50 monumental tombs for the king's "promised" were dug in the rock formation east of the city. These rock tombs show great variations in their design and were left in very different stages of processing than the city claims was given up again about 20 years ago. Janne Arp has checked and supplemented the information published more than 100 years ago about the individual graves on site and is now presenting the results in the form of a catalogue, which can be used to understand the similarities and differences in the grave design Comparative evaluation shows that the social status of the grave owners is not reflected in the quantity or quality of certain aspects of the layout and design of the graves. In order to take account of this problem of social interpretation, Au The figuration analysis developed by Norbert Elias was proposed for the evaluation of grave analyzes in Egyptology. Arp applies this to the example of the Armana necropolis and in this way draws attention to the interdependencies of the social structure and makes the striving to preserve and improve the social opportunities of individuals recognizable.
