Although he originally studied graphic art, Zurstrassen was inspired by Abstract Expressionists such as Jackson Pollock and Willem de Kooning to pursue painting. The book's essays delve into the artist's process and offer a critical analysis of the work. Also included are a detailed biography and insightful, informal conversations with the artist. Featuring full-page illustrations of Zurstrassen's recent work, the book situates the artist both within abstract art and the broader context of contemporary painting.
